The methods for treating titanium scraps mainly include physical method, chemical method, heat treatment method, and special treatment methods for specific types of titanium waste.

‌First, physical method is a common way to treat titanium scraps, including screening, centrifugation, gravity sorting, etc. These methods are relatively simple and easy to implement, but the output may be low, and are suitable for preliminary classification and separation of different components in titanium waste.

‌Secondly, chemical method is also often used in the treatment of titanium scraps, especially for the treatment of membranes and oxides. Chemical treatment methods include pickling method, corrosion method, etc., which can effectively remove impurities and oxides on the surface of titanium waste and improve its purity. In addition, for some specific titanium waste, such as titanium white waste acid, lime neutralization method can also be used for treatment to convert waste acid into harmless white gypsum and other products. ‌Heat treatment is another effective method for treating titanium waste. By heating the waste to a high temperature, the harmful substances are melted and then separated, and the concentration of harmful substances can be reduced. This method is particularly suitable for treating titanium waste containing some harmful substances that are difficult to remove by physical or chemical methods.

‌In addition to the above general methods, there are also some special treatment methods for specific types of titanium waste. For example, for titanium dioxide waste residue, different treatment processes such as flotation, repeated acid hydrolysis, grinding and powdering can be adopted according to its dry basis content. Waste residue with low dry basis content can be treated by flotation and sewage treatment plants; waste residue with high dry basis content can be added with mineral powder and re-ground to make white gypsum for cement production, etc. In addition, waste generated during the preparation of titanium dioxide, such as ferrous sulfate solution, gypsum slag, etc., can also be converted into high-value-added iron salt products, gypsum powder, etc. through oxidation, neutralization, precipitation and other steps.

In summary, there are many ways to treat titanium scraps, and the specific method to be selected depends on the type and composition of the waste and the desired final product. In actual operation, comprehensive consideration and selection should be made according to the specific situation.
